If you just want to power a basic PC with basic everything and no GFX card, you're gonna have to spend at least 30$. if you want to power a high end gaming platform, you might have to spend 80$.
i have a Geforce 6800GT, 1gb ram and P4 2.0GHz CPU.

I once had a 400W PSU for @40, and yep, died in three months.
Never go cheap on the PSU. You can go cheap to some degree on every other part in a PC, but a PSU that's too cheap can end up turning your hundreds of dollars worth of electronic equipment into a giant paperweight. Buy good first, cheap second.

I could understand a high enddual,possibly quadcore system, but a 2.0 Ghz P4?

I never said anything about spending $100 or mkore on a PSU. I said when it comes to power supplies, you should buy good first, cheap second. You can buy good PSUs quite cheaply, but you should never prioritize price over quality. If you need to spend a little more for a good, reliable PSU, then I suggest you do it.

For that system? Nothing too big, unless the OP wants some future expandability. What you suggested are both strong choices, but the amps on the V12 rails are just a little low (18A). I would suggest 20A+.
