also. if I go with e6420 and the GIGABYTE-DS3 965P will I be able to overclock it a little with stock cooling?should I go with athlon X2 5600+ or C2D e6420?

You could always go check out the Tweaking and Overclocking Union. They sure know how to overclock :)
ok so basically what u are tryin to do is get the highest fsb as possible, a e6420 has 9 multipliers so if ur using 667 ram, set it to 333, it should give u a mhz of 333 times 9, and have ur ram run at 1 on 1 ratio, i dont know much but from what i have learnt that is about it
get the e6420...and you can OC to 2.5-2.7 with stock coolin stable

yeh...to about 1.375V for a 2.6Ghz OC

If you're not overclocking, definitely the X2 5600; it's faster than the e6420 when both chips are running at stock speed.
