Tell me about the 64 bit versions of Vista

I'm lookin at getting a new laptop, all the newest stuff in it - core2duo, 8600 video card, 2gb ram etc. etc.Now everywhere i look for laptops, it will just say ''Vista Home Premium'' or whatever, but never clarifies whether or not it is the 32 bit, or 64 bit OEM.So,First question - What do you need to run 64 bit operating sytems?Second question - What does OEM meanThird question - Which version should I assume i'm gettingFourth question - What is the difference with the 64 bit version as opposed to the 32? 1. A 64 bit cpu 2. Just means it has no manual dont worry about it :P



3. All prebuilts come with 32bit im VERY sure.

OEM means no manual? lolanyone know more about the benefits/differences with having a 64 bit OS?
It can use more that 4 gigs of RAM. Unneccary though, especially in your case. thats all i know.

Yea that to im pretty sure Vista Ultimate 64b can use somewhere around 128gb O.O but 2gb is MORE than enough
The only real point of a 64 bit OS is if you have 4+ GB of RAM. There is lots of issues with 64 bit because not a lot of programs support it (you have to use 64 bit versions of programs but not every developer makes 64 bit versions of their programs). You will most likely be getting 32 bit, but I have seen a few new systems with 64 bit OS but most of them were pretty high end or had more than 2 GB of RAM. It would (most likely) specifically say if your getting 64 bit so I don't think you have to worry ;)
