I've grown tired of buying Dells for 1000s of dollars when I could build one for considerably less but I am a bit confused when it comes to theOS. What exactly is the difference between an OEM version of vista and the regular? Should I choose one over the other? thanks in advanced.Building a New PC, a question about OS
OEM Vista is tied onto your motherboard, so if you get a new motherboard or a new PC you won't be able to reuse the OS.Retail Vista can only be used once at a time, but you can reuse it on a new motherboard or new PC. Building a New PC, a question about OS
OEM is the ''system builder version'' It's cheaper, and doesn't come with unneccesary crap, it's just the OS with no case
OK thanks, so is it worth the extra money to pay for the ability to transfer to other pcs or should I just get the OEM version

All you have to do, if you get a new mobo, is lie to MS and say that your hard drive crashed, so you cana get a new key. Of course if your Mr./Miss ethical, you can always buy another O.S. if you want to give poor old MS more $$$$$$$.
