Should I purchase this PC

A friend of mine whats to sell me the following PC for 500 dollars (US). I have not purchased a PC in several years and currently using an older laptop. I would like to play some of the newer high end PC games, like Halo 2 and Battlefield. He said I should have no problems with this setup.EPoX EP-9NDA3+ Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce3 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard Antec TruePower TRUEBLUE 480 ATX12V 480W Power Supply Maxtor Ultra Series Kits L01M120 120GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive - RetailAMD Athlon 64 3500+ Newcastle 2.2GHz Socket 939 Processor ENERMAX CSX656TA-B Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case PLEXTOR DVD Burner Black IDE Model PX-712A BLACK - RetailSAMSUNG Black 1.44MB 3.5'' Internal Floppy Drive SAPPHIRE 102-A26126-00-AT Radeon X800SE 256MB DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card- OEMOCZ Platinum 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ4002048ELDCPE-KWhat do you think, is it worth 500 dollars.Should I purchase this PC
No, not really. It may have been in its hayday, but it has no upgrade potential and wont cope that well with current games on anything more than 1024x768, let alone for the next 3 years or so.Should I purchase this PC
No, it's not worth it for some reasons:- It's a single core CPU- Outdated AGP video card- HD is only 120GB.I can build a much better PC than that for $500. And btw, it's a used one, which makes it even worse to purchase.
got to newegg.com and order parts you can get something etter for cheaper
What would be a good counteroffer. I would like to build my own, but dont have the time or knowledge.Glad I posted here first because I was getting ready to give him 500 dollars today.
